I was shopping at the mall for Christmas presents on Sunday morning, when I received a call from a friend of mine who is a general contractor. He was doing some renovation work in the Mara family’s homes.
The Mara’s invited him to a football game, he had extra ticket and asked me if I would like to join his family at the game, I said yes. As it was late morning, I had to join up with him at his house quickly. I didn’t have time to run home a dress correctly for a December football game at the Meadowlands, so when I got to house we dug through his kids winter gear to find gloves, hat and sweatshirt that fit me.
Off to the game we when, we had an owner parking pass and meet up with Wellington Mara son-in-law at the NY Giants Office entrance. He gave us a tour of the offices, the trophy room with the NFL Champions 27, 34, 38 & 56 and the Super Bowl 87, 91 & 08 hardware in display. Then we walk thru the tunnel to the player bench area to watch the teams warm up.
We were on the field and not behind the barriers with the other people, I did feel special. We then when up to our seats and watch the Giants blow the game 23 to 20 the Cowboys. Losing the game in the last seconds when Martin Gramatica then hit a 46 yard field goal. It may have not been the Giants day but it’s a day I will remember. We were told that our pass would allow us to walk anywhere other than player’s locker rooms and security areas, we did try, just watched the game from our seats.
