New Orleans – Jazz Fest Memories

Jul 10, 2013 No Comments by

I lived in New Orleans from 2003 until hurricane Katrina. It’s a great city and I love to go back and visit for Jazz Fest and this year we’re going for New Year’s Eve. Once we started buying the Big Chief passes, we couldn’t go back to sitting on the grass and using port-a-potties.

In 2008, some shows I loved included Stevie Wonder, Dr. John, The Raconteurs, Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint, Galactic and The Radiators.

In 2010 I saw Widespread Panic, Elvis Costello & the Sugarcanes, Gov’t Mule, Steve Martin with the Steep Canyon Rangers, Kermit Ruffins & the Barbecue Swingers, The Iguanas, The Jon Batiste Band, and a lot more. One of the highlights was seeing John Goodman of Treme fame rocking out at the Kermit Ruffins performance.

During both trips I’m quite sure that I visited the Palace Cafe and Central Grocery.
