I don’t have an entrance ticket to the 1975, 101st running of the Kentucky Derby, but I was there with some friends. We climbed over the wall, made it to tunnel under the track and into the center field.
We settled in and party with the masses for the afternoon. I lost about $20.00 on the races during the day and for a college student that a lot back then. All I remember of the Kentucky Derby was the horses running by the spot I selected at the fence, couldn’t tell what I saw.
Foolish Pleasure with Vasquez on his back won in 2:02 by 1¾ length. My suggestion if you want to see the race don’t go to the centerfield, but if your there to party the centerfield is the place. I don’t know what happen to my losing Derby ticket, but the ticket shown is for the number 3 horse in the 3rd race for that day, my mom would always bet that race so I did it for her.
