For years I have been wanting to go to at least one of the Halloween events at the Historic Hudson Valley, so I talked my wife into go to The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze at Van Cortlandt Manor, Croton-on-Hudson.
I bought the tickets for Monday, Halloween night, thinking that would be the best night for this type of event. We planned the evening that would start with a visit to Van Cortlandt Manor and then dinner in Tarrytown.
Well Saturday around 9am our plans started to change with the first snowflakes falling from the sky. We ended up with about 4 inches on the ground by the end of the freak October storm, which set a record for snow in October at our house.
The storm took down trees along the power lines all around Westchester county and forced the cancellation of the Saturday, Sunday and Monday events. So we ended up handing out candy to the kids at our front door and there will always next year.
But check out all events of the Historic Hudson Valley, The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow perform and haunted Philipsburg Manor Village.
