Georgetown Hoyas 99 – Alabama State 76

Freshman year continued to roll along. After a squeaker on the road against Mighty Kentucky – OK Western Kentucky – it was home against perennial powerhouse Alabama State. In this pre-internet era – the first thing that popped up on Google was some information on a solid Hoya power forward I remembered named – Billy Martin.

Listed as 6-7 – Martin had a sweet baseline shot and was ready to hit the boards anytime. As I reviewed his numbers on HoyasBasketball.com – it was interesting to recall that for the Georgetown Hoyas, Martin had a strong sophomore year that season, and this was one of his best games. He turned in 30 and 7 and we won going away. He later gave up playing time as Reggie Williams came in his junior year – picking up again his final season.

Must have been a fun ride home on the big yellow buses that night – as we all started to settle into what we hoped would be a season of 30+ wins!
