The B-52s rocked Main St. last night. The city of Stamford, CT hosted its last outdoor concert series event, and I finally secured a babysitter so I could go out and enjoy the tunes. Some people may think that the B-52s are 80’s has-beens, but the harmonies of Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson were dead on.
After a few glasses of sake, both my brother-in-law and sister led (or rather forced) me into the thick of the jumpin’ crowd to scope out a better view. Losing our inhibitions and shedding our self-conscious natures, we all found ourselves shimmying in the streets to “Love Shack”. I guess for a moment, in the midst of life’s routines, I forgot about the stressors that can dull our personalities.
In that moment, Stamford was cool and cohesive; and I, celebratrating my 37th birthday, was simply happy to be surrounded by good music, my family, and complete strangers.
