Opening Day: The New Meadowlands
by Mike Palladino
It just seemed right that my beloved New York Giants would open up their new stadium (and the 2010 season) against the Carolina Panthers – a team that improperly closed out the old stadium with a complete and utter beat down, further cementing the lackluster 2009 NYG season.
The Giants defense – which took the most blame only a year ago – looked improved, holding the dynamic Carolina rushing attack to under 100 yards. And the secondary came up big with 3 interceptions, including one in the end zone by Deon Grant.
While the game was by no means a “pretty” one, it was nice to see the G-Men open up the New Meadowlands Stadium with a W.
Although the stadium is new, excpect to see the same G-Men as you did in the 2nd half of the 2009 season. Oh Well. Good bye Gilbride. And why do sportscasters keep referring to Eli as an “elite” NFL QB? I guess my bloodlines make me an “elite” jew from queens. Yeah Baby!
Your crazy dude – this is the year
