1945 World Series – Briggs Stadium

by Thomas Doran
I discovered this unredeemed (intact) Game 1 ticket to the 1945 World Series between the Tigers and1945-World-Series-Ticket Cubs when my dad died. Briggs Stadium was re-named Tiger Stadium, and has been demolished and replaced at another location by Comerica Field.

A few years ago, a local museum hosted a baseball exhibit where this ticket was displayed with a game-worn Hal Newhouser jersey. He pitched for the Tigers in Game 1.

An interesting sidenote to the 1945 World Series – this was the year of the famous “Billy Goat Curse” – read more below
