Jethro Tull, Robin Trower, Rory Gallagher

Shea Stadium and concerts have a long history, starting with the Beatles and ending from Jethro-Tull-&-Robin-TrowerBilly Joel. In between they were many others and I got to see a few, my first was on Friday, July 23, 1976.

That night Jethro Tull & Robin Trower performed in the concert that was billed as Tull v. Boeing due to the stadium’s distance to LaGuardia Airport. Coming in from NJ we got lost, this was my first time at Shea. After reaching the parking lot and not being able to find a spot, so I got out of the van and moved the police barrier; we parked within 200 yards of the stadium.

We got in for the last 10 minutes of Gallagher performance. I remember a great show, but not the ride back to NJ. No we didn’t get towed or a ticket.
