Jeter’s First Grand Slam (who said he chokes in the clutch!)

We waited and waited for Derek Jeter, then he finally does it on a Saturday afternoon June 18, 2005 game at the old Yankee Stadium against the NL Cubbies.

In the bottom of the 6th with 1 out he hits his 1st Grand Slam. He had been at bat 135 times with the bases loaded without a home run. But on this Saturday with a 2 and 1 count it goes out and the fans when crazy. We all knew what we had just seen. Then to top the day off he hits a solo homer in the 8th. “DEREK, DEREK, DEREK”

The Yankees win 8 to 1 and Wang gets the win.
