It was a 90 degree Thursday and my friends and I were pretty much all in the mood to knock couple back somewhere convenient to everyone. We knew the Downtown Stamford was doing there Alive at Five deal and the band playing was Creedence Clearwater Revisited. OK – so they managed to still have the initials CCR – which wasn’t the cleverest music industry idea, but at least someone was trying.
So we gave it a shot. Creedence Clearwater Revisited – Alive at Five was happy hour for the day.
As it turned out – there were a couple of guys in the group from the original band, did some of their own music (which was a surprise) and covered some Credence songs as well. One friend – who spent some time in the entertainment law industry reminded me that the old band had all sorts of legal troubles, maybe with the record company or they turned on each other.
Either way – this was not watching Fogerty from Centerfield, but with the right group of friends I still haven’t had a bad time at Alive at Five in Stamford.
